The College is committed to sharing resources with pharmacy professionals and students to promote the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI). Learning about the unique populations across the province promotes respect and informed approaches to how pharmacy professionals care for patients. On inclusion, interacting with persons with disabilities can be more meaningful and respectful when inclusive language is applied.
According to InclusionNB (formerly New Brunswick Association for Community Living), all people should be able to belong, contribute, and participate in everyday activities in the community in which they choose to live. The Words Matter resource published by InclusionNB, provides simple examples of inclusive language as well as provides a link to educational opportunities. A Way with Words and Images published by Employment and Social Development Canada is another more detailed resource.
We hope you will take a moment to learn about inclusion and reflect on how you are incorporating it into your practice. The College provides additional resources on our website for your information.
