Continuous Professional Development
All pharmacists and pharmacy technicians must engage in ongoing continuous professional development (CPD), or continuing education (CE), to maintain or improve their skills and knowledge base. This is a requirement of licensure.
A record of CPD must be documented in a pharmacy professional’s online profile with the College. This online learning portfolio may be updated at any point during the year until the time of annual licence renewal in November.
Requirements for the 2025 licence renewal (November 2024):
The College has moved to an electronic system for documenting CPD.
Entering a total of 15 CPD units in the Continuing Education section of the online renewal form is mandatory to proceed with annual licence renewal.
New pharmacist graduates:
If, during the same year of receiving the degree, the Pharmacist Apprentice Internship Manual was completed, and a pharmacist licence was obtained, the new pharmacist graduate is deemed to have met the CPD requirement for the renewal period (November 1 to November 30) for the coming year only. For example, if graduation date is May 2024 and a pharmacist licence is obtained in 2024 then during the renewal process for the year 2025, the new pharmacist graduate is deemed to have met the continuing education requirement).

New pharmacy technician graduates:
If between November 1 of the previous year and November 30 of the current year, 15 hours or more were spent completing the Structured Practical Evaluation Manual and, a pharmacy technician licence was obtained, the new pharmacy technician graduate is deemed to have met the CPD requirement for the renewal period (November 1 to November 30) for the coming year only. For example, if the training manual was started in December 2023 and a pharmacy technician licence was obtained in 2024 then during the renewal process for the year 2025, the new pharmacy technician graduate is deemed to have met the continuing education requirement.
