The Institute for Safe Medication Practices Canada (ISMP Canada) recently launched MedError.ca, a pan-Canadian website designed for consumers to report medication errors. This news was shared with the College by Melissa Sheldrick, a mother who lost her son Andrew to a medication error in 2016 and who is now a Patient and Family Advisor with ISMP Canada. Every story reported can help prevent another tragedy.
The launch of this new website matters because:
- Each year, many Canadians experience errors with their medications;
- Medication error reports can contribute to learning, which can drive change and improve safety; and
- Mederror.ca has valuable information that helps consumers to safely use medications.
