Please note a previous version of this communication stated an incorrect date regarding the availability of publicly funded MMR vaccines for New Brunswick residents. The correct effective date is June 2, 2025. Please ensure all staff are aware of this change.
The following message is being shared on behalf of the Department of Health:
The Department of Health offers measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine as part of the routine adult immunization program. Pharmacy professionals who have completed training and have been authorized by the College to administer injections may administer the publicly funded MMR vaccine to eligible New Brunswick residents 18 years of age and older effective June 2, 2025.
Routine immunization with publicly funded PRIORIX (DIN 02239208) can be given according to the following eligibility requirements:
Adults born in 1970 or later and:
- who have not previously received two doses after 12 months of age, should receive two doses (one month apart), or
- who have previously received one dose after 12 months of age, can receive one dose.
Please note that the publicly funded MMR vaccine is not to be used for travelers who do not meet current eligibility criteria or for those individuals born before 1970. Individuals born before 1970 are presumed to have immunity to measles from past infection.
The notice from the Department of Health is available for review. More information is available online. Questions and concerns may be directed to the Vaccine Operations Center (VOC) at [email protected].
