Standard processing time for applications is 14 days from the date all parts of the application package are received by the College in the required format.

2015 marked the first time Pharmacy Technicians were registered in New Brunswick. Standardizing education, scope of practice, role definition and legal responsibility of regulated pharmacy technicians are important components of the growth process of the pharmacy profession and ensures the profession is practiced safely by qualified individuals. The aspects of the practice of pharmacy that registered pharmacy technicians may perform is outlined in Regulation 20.6.
Only those individuals registered with the NB College of Pharmacists may use the titles Pharmacy Technician Student or Pharmacy Technician.
Individuals currently working in a pharmacy as a pharmacy assistant have until December 31, 2019 to complete and submit all registration requirements for licensure (Path 1). After the deadline has passed, current assistants wishing to become registered pharmacy technicians will be required to pursue licensure through Path 2 that includes graduation from an accredited pharmacy technician education program.
Bridging Programs for current pharmacy assistants
The National Pharmacy Technician Bridging Education Program [ LINK] is available online in New Brunswick in English or in French through Selkirk College. Students will also be able to take courses in English or French in a traditional classroom format through the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB).
